Are You Interested in Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet- Rich Plasma is used to treat many different ailments from sports injuries, and hair loss to sexual wellness and regenerative treatments. The treatment consists of using the patient’s blood cells to accelerate the healing process.

All treatments are done in our office with personal access to our doctors, we do not pass your care off to assistants or staff members. We will also assist in any way possible with billing your insurance company but due to restraints in treatment frequencies, authorizations and restrictions on care and thus outcomes we do not participate with insurance companies for treatments.

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy?

Your blood is made up of plasma, white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. The two important elements of PRP are platelets and plasma. Plasma is the liquid portion of blood while platelets play an important role in healing through the promotion of cell growth and regeneration.

How do Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections Work?

PRP is a non-surgical option. Platelet-rich plasma is created by taking a blood sample from a vein in your arm and placing it into special tubing and into a specific centrifuge that separates the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrates the platelets within your plasma.

Essentially, Platelet-rich plasma is your plasma that has been treated to contain extensively more platelets than normal.

After creating the platelet-rich plasma, the solution is then injected into the target area. The purpose is to increase the concentration of specific growth factors in a specific area to accelerate the healing and regenerative process.

What can I expect?

We will review your medical history followed by a physical exam and discussion about whether PRP injections are the right option for you.

During this time you will have plenty of time to discuss options, expectations, procedures and alterantives.

Initial Treatment

All of our services are performed by licensed medical professions with the utmost emphasis on sterility, and comfort. In addition, your treatment will take place with privacy in mind (no large group treatment rooms). We start with blood draw, in office.  Then through specialized equipment and processing we turn into PRP.  This process takes about 10min, and during this time you will be prepped for your treatment.   Once your PRP is ready, it is then injected into the problem area through whether this be a joint that is problematic or the scalp (previously numbed with topical lidocaine) for hair restoration.

After Treatment

The entire process should take no more than an hour. You can return to your everyday routine following the procedure. The effects can be felt after approximately 4 to 6 weeks for joints, and can be seen in several weeks to months for hair treatment.
